Charles and Miles Davison, co-founders of Hong Kong-based valet-storage business StuffGenie Ltd., have made their proprietary IT platform available to other businesses, including traditional self-storage operations that offer valet-style services. The Storeganise software platform allows for operator and customer scheduling of item pickup and delivery, and enables renters to maintain an image catalog of their stored belongings.
The Davisons built the Storganise infrastructure to launch StuffGenie last year, according to a press release. They released the for-sale version last week during Self Storage Expo Asia 2015 in Tokyo.
“We are offering storage operators worldwide a head start on the competition and the opportunity to benefit from the shifting trends towards convenience in self-storage,” Miles Davison said. “Traditional operators who have an existing footprint in their markets can pivot into these services with minimal risk and investment by using Storeganise as their software platform.”
As valet-storage businesses gain traction, the Davisons believe Storeganise will enable entrepreneurs and self-storage operators to scale on-demand services quickly. The software provides an interface for managing all aspects of transportation, storage and customer management in real time, according to the release. The customer-facing app allows users to schedule deliveries and collections and manage the items they have in storage with photos and descriptions, company officials said.
In addition, the Davisons offer valet-storage consulting services on marketing initiatives, procurement and website design as well as the setup and management of logistics and operation.
StuffGenie launched in Hong Kong in December and offers local service to the areas of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Territories. The company also offers delivery to the airport and ferry terminals for added fees or if a customer lives outside the delivery area, according to its website.
