Spring Lake Storage, a self-storage facility in Spring Lake, N.C., was recently named “Best New Non-Residential Property” by the Fayetteville Cumberland County Joint Appearance Commission, which reviews proposed site plans and initiates programs to improve the visual quality or properties in the county. The three-story Spring Lake Storage facility at 809 Chapel Hill Road opened in June 2014. Prior to its opening, the town hadn’t permitted self-storage development for several decades, according to the website for Ultimate Storage Co., the Spring Lake facility’s parent company. The property was approved “because of the high-quality product” the company brings to the market, the website states.

Spring Lake Storage contains 475 climate-controlled units. Amenities include keypad gate entry, a moving truck for new tenants, and a retail center offering moving and packing supplies.

Founded in 2005 by Shelley Bhatia and her father, Rajan Shamdasani, Ultimate Storage operates three North Carolina properties—three in Fayetteville and one in North Durham. All of them are managed by self-storage real estate investment trust Extra Space Storage Inc. The company is also developing South Wake Storage in Cary, N.C.
