An incident between two dogs escalated into a dispute in which one man was stabbed and another hit with a baseball bat this week at a self-storage facility in Prescott, Ariz. Donald Robertson will face charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct after allegedly stabbing a 46-year-old man during their argument at the property on White Spar Road.

The stabbing victim, who was unidentified by the source, had gone to the storage facility to help a friend load belongings into a unit and left a small dog inside his vehicle, according to local police. While helping his friend, the man saw a "large, pit-bull type dog barking at and harassing his dog," while Robertson stood near the vehicle, Lt. Amy Bonney told the source.

The man told police he asked Robertson to leave, but Robertson ignored his request and continued to allow the dog to bark and growl, investigators said. When Robertson refused to leave, the man took a small baseball bat from his vehicle to push Robertson’s dog away, but Robertson then allowed his dog to get within biting distance of the man, police said. The man then struck the dog once with the bat, causing it to flee, the source reported.

In retaliation, Robertson then allegedly stabbed the man once in the stomach, and the victim hit Robertson at least twice with the bat, according to police. The victim left the scene in his vehicle before being contacted by police, the source reported.

The victim received treatment at Yavapai Regional Medical Center before being flown to a Phoenix-area hospital. Police did not know his condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Robertson was booked into the Yavapai County Jail.
