A woman was charged with second-degree burglary for breaking into three units at Patriot Mini Storage in Stillwater, Okla., on March 6. The business owner called police two days after noticing suspicious activity on the facility’s surveillance video, according to the source.
While reviewing the security footage, Stillwater Police Officer Chance Whiteley recognized the suspect and her vehicle, despite her attempts to hide from cameras. Katy Ann McCullough, 28, was seen cutting locks off several unit doors, then making multiple trips from the storage spaces to her car.
Whiteley drove to McCullough’s residence, where he found the suspect sitting in her vehicle out front. He told her he knew about the break-ins and asked about the of stolen property. She admitted to taking items from one unit, and said they were in the trunk of her car.
Whitely recovered a generator, air tank and a paintball gun with accessories. He also discovered bolt-cutters in the front of the vehicle.
McCullough was ultimately arrested on April 7 and released from jail on a $10,000 bond. She’s already serving a 10-year probation-deferred sentence for various charges from 2015, including possession of methamphetamine, a stolen vehicle and debit card, the source reported.
Patriot Storage operates facilities at 5020 N. Washington St. and 6023 N. Washington St. in Stillwater. Both climate-controlled and drive-up units with 24-hour access.
