A 30-year-old woman was found dead last week at the U-Store-It self-storage facility at 1906 Plainfield Road in Crest Hill, Ill. Tiana M. Wallace was discovered by employees conducting a routine property check on the morning of Jan. 17, according to the source. Preliminary autopsy results indicated Wallace may have died from hypothermia, but police have characterized the death as “suspicious.”
News reports didn’t indicate where in the facility Wallace was found. Crest Hill Police Chief Dwayne Wilkerson said there were no apparent signs of trauma. “We’re still treating it as suspicious,” Wilkerson told the “Chicago Sun-Times.”
An official cause of death is pending results from toxicological tests by the Will County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators plan to interview the woman’s family members as well as tenants who visited the storage facility in the days before Wallace was found, Wilkerson said.
