The national Self Storage Association (SSA) will sponsor a research study examining vehicle traffic within the industry. The study comes 18 years after the SSA last published a report on the subject, which “needs to be updated to reflect the current climate and self-storage customer,” officials said in the Dec. 2 “SSA Weekly Magazine” newsletter.
The SSA expects to survey members in the next few weeks. “While these studies are helpful for companies hoping to build or expand, this is also a vital opportunity to further help our members address any zoning or regulatory challenges they may face,” officials said.
Specific traffic and other information submitted by SSA members will be kept confidential and won’t be saved by the association, according to the newsletter.
The SSA represents about 22,000 U.S. and international member-affiliated self-storage facilities, according to its website. It’s affiliated with several state and international self-storage associations and currently has about 6,000 members.
